Affiliations and Roles
Liam Elbourne is a Research Fellow at the School of Natural Sciences, Macquarie University. He is actively involved in research projects such as 'Circuit Breaker: Investigating the regulatory circuits controlling expression of drug efflux pumps in Acinetobacter baumannii' and 'Characterisation of the Proteobacterial Antimicrobial Compound Efflux (PACE) family of multidrug resistance proteins'. His work is supported by initiatives under the Biomolecular Discovery and Design Research Centre.
Research Interests
Elbourne's research focuses on bacterial genomics, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, microbial community dynamics in unique environments, and the development of computational tools for genomic analysis. His work bridges fundamental science and applied biotechnology, particularly in understanding pathogen evolution and environmental microbiology.
Grants and Collaborations
- Project: Circuit Breaker (2017–Present)
- Project: PACE Family Research (2015–2016)
He collaborates with researchers such as Paulsen, Hassan, and Tetu on topics ranging from efflux pump dynamics to synthetic biology applications.
