Liam Barry

Liam Barry is a Professor at the School of Electronic Engineering, Dublin City University. He leads the Radio and Optical Communications Laboratory and serves as a Principal Investigator for Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Previously, he was Director of the Rince Institute (2006–2010) and worked as a Research Fellow at Auckland University and France Telecom's (Orange Labs) Optical Systems Department.

His research focuses on

• all-optical signal processing
• hybrid radio/fibre systems
• wavelength tuneable lasers for reconfigurable optical networks

. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications and holds 9 patents, with a strong emphasis on advancing optical communication technologies.

Liam is actively involved in academic leadership, directing interdisciplinary research initiatives and fostering collaborations in dependable networks and optical systems.
