Dr. Li Jasmine Xiao is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Medicine. Her research focuses on addressing musculoskeletal health challenges using advanced technologies from biomedical engineering, molecular imaging, nanomedicine, and regenerative medicine.
- Education: B.S. in Pharmaceutical Science from Tianjin University (2006), Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Virginia (2012)
Her work includes developing a microfluidic “disc-on-a-chip” platform for intervertebral disc degeneration, targeted nanomedicines for lumbar radiculopathy, and a smart sensor microneedle system for pain management. She collaborates with multidisciplinary experts to advance treatments for low back pain, osteoarthritis, and disc degeneration.
Dr. Xiao has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in journals like ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and The Spine Journal, with 800+ citations (h-index 18, i10-index 20). Her research has been highlighted in professional media such as NASS Insider and ORS Connect.
