Leyla Tiglay is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and an Ernest May Fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School, Belfer Center (since 2022). She holds affiliations with the Mershon Center for International Security Studies and has received research support from institutions such as the Clements Center for National Security and the Wilson Center's Nuclear Proliferation International History Project.

Research Interests: Leyla's work focuses on the intersection of decolonization and Cold War nuclear politics, particularly France's Sahara nuclear tests, anti-nuclear movements, and Great Power diplomacy. She integrates international history with technological studies, environmental history, and security studies to explore overlooked African colonial/postcolonial nuclear histories. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges grassroots decolonizing movements with high-level nuclear policy.
Grants & Affiliations: Supported by fellowships from USIP and the Bush School of Government's Grand Strategy Center. Current affiliations include the Mershon Center and Belfer Center.
