Lewis P. Shapiro

Lewis P. Shapiro is Professor at San Diego State University with expertise in language processing disorders and aphasia rehabilitation. His research combines linguistic theory with cognitive neuroscience to investigate sentence comprehension deficits in clinical populations.

Holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stanford University (2004) and B.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University (1997).

Pioneered studies on predicate argument structure processing in neurologically impaired individuals and developed innovative treatment protocols for sentence production deficits. Maintains continuous NIH funding since 1988 and directs doctoral training programs.

Awarded Fellow of the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association and received multiple honors for scholarly contributions to language sciences.
