Dr. Lewis Hatcher serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he contributes to the master's program in school counseling. A licensed school counselor and mental health professional, he brings extensive experience from Title I Schools and clinical mental health facilities serving children, families, and males.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Counseling, Idaho State University (2011)
- M.A. in Counseling, Wake Forest University (2008)
- B.A. in Psychology, North Carolina State University (2004)
Dr. Hatcher's research emphasizes action-oriented methodologies to bridge the research-practice gap in mental health and education, with a focus on culturally relevant interventions for trauma, substance abuse, and family violence. His work integrates social justice, cultural diversity, and holistic wellness frameworks to promote intentional healthy living across diverse populations.
As an academic leader, he has served as school counseling program director, Dean of Students, and Dean of Academic Affairs, while also functioning as a Title IX investigator.
