Leszek Butowski is an Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, affiliated with the Institute of Urban Geography, Tourism Studies and Geoinformation under the Faculty of Geographical Sciences. His research focuses on tourism geography, sustainable tourism, and the ontological and epistemological foundations of tourism studies. He holds a habilitation (dr hab.) degree, indicating advanced scholarly expertise.
His academic work explores theoretical frameworks in tourism research, including social constructionism, flat ontology, and John Searle’s vertical social ontology. He has contributed to discussions on tourism as an academic discipline, emphasizing its interdisciplinary nature and methodological rigor.
