Bogdan Włodarczyk serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of Urban Geography, Tourism Studies and Geoinformation at the University of Lodz's Faculty of Geographical Sciences. He also holds the position of Head of the University of Lodz Committee for Academic Degrees in Geography and Spatial Planning.
His research focuses on tourism geography, urban geography, and spatial management, with particular expertise in active tourism, cultural routes, and regional development in Poland, especially the Łódź region. His work bridges theoretical geography with practical applications in tourism economy and spatial planning.
With 73 documented publications, his scholarly output demonstrates consistent contributions to social and economic geography and spatial management. His research often examines tourism spaces, geographical definitions of tourism, and cultural trail development, with significant focus on Polish contexts including Łódź University and regional tourism organizations.
Professor Włodarczyk has supervised 10 promoted theses, contributing to academic development in geographical sciences. His leadership extends to institutional roles including directing the Institute since 2011 and heading the Department of Tourism Geography since 2009, demonstrating sustained commitment to academic administration.
The Institute under his direction comprises multiple departments including Urban Geography, Tourism Geography, Hotel Geography, Space Urbanization, and Geoinformation, along with specialized workshops in Regional GIS and Urban Revitalization, creating a comprehensive research and teaching environment focused on geographical applications in tourism and urban development.
