Dr. Leslie Sauder serves as Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at Northern State University, leveraging 20+ years of K-8 classroom experience to advance STEM integration in elementary and middle school education through technology and robotics.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Human Development and Educational Psychology, University of South Dakota (2023)
- Ed.S. in Mathematics Education, Black Hills State University (2019)
- M.A. in Teaching and Learning, Northern State University (2015)
- B.A. in Elementary Education, Mount Marty College (2001)
Her research prioritizes STEM education with specialized focus on Women in STEM, Inquiry-based science education, and Project-based learning to transform science/math pedagogy. Recent conference presentations demonstrate consistent innovation in hands-on STEM activities across grade levels, emphasizing the Engineering Design Process and engagement strategies.
Dr. Sauder secured a South Dakota Department of Education STEM grant for classroom resources (robots, 3D printers) and contributed to statewide initiatives including the Math and Science Leadership Cohort (2022-23) and South Dakota Unpacked Standards Document for Mathematics (2019). She serves on Northern State University's Instructional Technology Advisory Committee and maintains active membership in the National Science Teacher Association.
