Leslie Marsh is a Professor in the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgia State University (GSU), serving as Director of Undergraduate Studies and Section Coordinator for Portuguese. Her research focuses on Hispanic and Lusophone film/media studies, visual practices challenging societal boundaries, and women’s cultural production. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

Her research explores how visual media intervenes in political imaginations and redefines national identities. Notable work includes her monograph Brazilian Women’s Filmmaking: From Dictatorship to Democracy (2012), examining women’s cinematic practices in Brazil. Current projects include a monograph on Brazil’s nation branding through contemporary media, and two co-edited volumes on BRICS media dynamics and middle-class phenomena in emerging markets.
She collaborates with scholars like Dr. Hongmei Li (GSU) and Dr. Ilke Kardeş (University of Düsseldorf) to analyze global cultural and economic shifts. Teaching spans Latin American cinema, Portuguese language, and honors courses on Brazilian citizenship.
