Dr. Leslie E. Seawright is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Missouri State University. She holds a PhD (2012), MA (2008) from the University of Arkansas, and a BA (1999) from the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on intercultural technical writing, transnational higher education, professional workplace writing, police writing, and technical writing pedagogy. She has published extensively on topics such as cultural competence in global contexts and the role of design in effective documentation. Notable works include Genre of Power: Police Report Writers and Readers in the Justice System (2017) and edited volumes on transnational education. Dr. Seawright received the 2020 Award for Excellence in Study Away Programming for her work in cultural competence. Her teaching and research emphasize practical applications of writing in global and professional settings.
Her professional experience includes academic writing, international collaboration projects, and curriculum development. She has contributed to peer-reviewed journals like Business Communication Research and Practice and IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication.
