Amy Hodges

Dr. Amy Hodges is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), specializing in technical and professional writing. She holds a PhD in English (Rhetoric and Composition) from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville (2012), an MA in English from the same institution (2007), and a BA in English from Louisiana Tech University (2005). Her research focuses on multilingual engineers’ communication strategies in transnational corporations and inclusive writing program development.

Dr. Hodges has taught at UTA since 2020 and previously held roles at Texas A&M University at Qatar, MIT/Singapore University of Technology & Design, and the University of Arkansas. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2024 Outstanding Teaching Award from UTA’s College of Liberal Arts and the 2020 Texas A&M System Teaching Excellence Award.

Her work appears in journals like IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication and the Writing Center Journal. She leads initiatives such as the MENA Writing Centers Alliance and chairs UTA’s Research Committee. Key grants include projects on technical communication in Qatar and ethics in document design.
