Leslie Bunnage, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the Social and Behavioral Sciences B.A. Program at Seton Hall University. Her research focuses on social movements, particularly labor movement revitalization, youth activism, and the intersection of race, gender, and class. She explores how digital platforms shape activist identities and examines complex issues like white nationalism through a sociological lens.
Dr. Bunnage holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of California, Irvine, and a B.A. from UC Santa Cruz. Her work bridges theory and practice, including studies on activist retention and pedagogical strategies for teaching contentious topics like white nationalism.
She has secured grants, including a $49,000 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant (2012–2013) co-led with Beth Ribet, investigating state-level medical leave laws. Notable courses taught include Sociology of Women and Men, Majority-Minority Relations, and Crowds, Cults, and Revolutions.
