Lesley J Higgins is a Professor in the Department of English at the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Her research focuses on modernist and Victorian literary culture, gender studies, feminist critique, textual studies, and poetry. She is the author of The Modernist Cult of Ugliness (2002) and co-editor of Victorian Aesthetic Conditions (2010) and Walter Pater: Transparencies of Desire (2004). She leads editorial projects such as the nine-volume Collected Works of Gerard Manley Hopkins and the ten-volume Collected Works of Walter Pater, supported by a $175,000 SSHRC grant.
