Leonor Estrada Francke is a Lecturer and interdisciplinary theatre artist from Lima, Peru, creating political and visceral live art that blends documentary and surrealist elements across genres including site-specific protest performance, physical theatre, text-responsive theatre, film, and audio pieces.
Her educational background includes:
- MA in Classical and Contemporary Text Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
- Graduate of La Tarumba (Peru's only professional circus school)
- Scenic Arts degree from the Department of Communications of Pontificia Universidad Católica (Perú)
Her research centers on anticolonialism, feminism and the city, and developing surrealist auto-fiction to disentangle personal biography. She explores memory, the body, and territory through politically engaged artistic practice, often addressing social issues in urban contexts with visceral immediacy.
She has received artistic recognition including:
- A bursary from Take Me Somewhere for "Fissure" development
- A residency from Surge supporting "Fissure" creation
As founding member of Sonqo Ruro collective, she develops political performance and arts pedagogy. Her work "Ballad of the Crone" premiered at Edinburgh's Manipulate Festival. Previously, she served as attached artist to Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh (2021-2022 L20 Programme) and Creative Assistant for Two Destination Language.
