Dr. Leonie van Lent is an Associate Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law Sciences, Utrecht University. She is also a researcher at the Montaigne Centre for the Rule of Law and Administration of Justice. Her research focuses on criminal procedural law principles, human rights standards, and judicial transparency, particularly regarding citizen participation in proceedings and media roles. She teaches criminal procedural law and became the program leader for the Criminal Law master's program in 2022. Additionally, she coordinates the Legal Skills Academy.
