Leonid Zubkov is a Research Professor at Drexel University's School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems. His research applies optical methods to medical diagnostics, focusing on near-infrared spectroscopy (DNIRS) and diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) for wound healing assessment, particularly in diabetic patients.
Before joining Drexel, Zubkov was Professor of Physics at St. Petersburg University, where he researched light scattering in phase transitions and liquid crystals. At the University of Pennsylvania, he developed medical devices for tumor detection, stroke diagnosis, and wound monitoring. His DNIRS technology was licensed by Emunamedica, LLC for commercialization as a wound healing monitor.
