Leonard S. Marks

Leonard S. Marks, MD is a Professor and the deKernion Endowed Chair in Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he practices at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He specializes in Urologic Oncology with a particular focus on prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Marks received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1969, graduating with AOA honors and a Masters of Arts in Physiology. He completed his residency in Urology at UCLA School of Medicine and Surgery at Harbor - UCLA Medical Center. His medical board certification in Urology from the American Board of Urology dates back to 1980.

Dr. Marks's research primarily focuses on improving prostate cancer diagnostic measures and outcomes, with special expertise in targeted MRI fusion prostate biopsy. He actively explores and assesses the efficacy of active surveillance and various focal therapy treatments including cryoablation, HIFU, and FLA for primarily low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer. His scholarly contributions include more than 120 peer-reviewed scientific publications on prostate research.

His recent publications demonstrate continued leadership in prostate cancer research, with particular emphasis on dietary interventions for prostate cancer patients on active surveillance, advanced imaging techniques for biopsy procedures, and innovative focal therapies.
