Leon Urbas

Leon Urbas is a Professor at the Chair of Process Control Systems within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Dresden University of Technology. Since November 2006, he has led the Chair PCS and P2O-Group, focusing on distributed safety-critical systems and human-technology interaction.

His research spans

• model-driven engineering for automation
• middleware in process industry systems
• multimodal interface usability
• user modeling for prospective system design

. He has held leadership roles in academic boards including VDI/GVC, VDE/GMA, and as Editor-in-Chief of atp edition.

Urbas earned his doctorate in 1999 from TU Berlin and completed his habilitation in 2006 on human-technology interaction. He has served as Dean of Information Systems Engineering since 2014 and directed graduate studies in automation engineering from 2010-2014. His career includes industry roles at Degussa AG and research leadership at TU Berlin before joining TU Dresden.
