Dr. Leon Moller is an Academic Lawyer and Professor at Robert Gordon University's School of Law & Social Sciences in Aberdeen, Scotland. He serves as Course Leader for the Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Law (LLM/MSc) and International Environmental Law LLM/MSc programs. Dr. Moller is affiliated with the Energy, Sustainability & Society Research Group and the Energy, Environment & Sustainability in Architecture Research Group, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to energy and environmental law.
Dr. Moller specializes in Maritime Law, Oil and Gas Contract Law, Environmental Law, International Law of the Sea, and Energy Law and Policy. His research focuses on multi-disciplinary approaches to energy transition, with particular interest in legal frameworks for hydrogen, renewable energy development, and deep seabed mining. He has conducted extensive comparative research on energy policies in countries including Nigeria, Namibia, and the UK.
His recent publications (2018-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on environmental compliance in hydrocarbon sectors, gas flaring regulations, renewable energy legal frameworks, and international energy policy comparisons. The research shows consistent attention to practical regulatory challenges in resource-rich developing nations and the intersection of environmental protection with energy development.

Dr. Moller actively supervises PhD students working on contemporary energy law challenges, including renewable energy frameworks in Nigeria, judicial independence in Nigeria, and legal management of disputed oil and gas resources. Through his work with the Energy, Sustainability & Society Research Group, he contributes to interdisciplinary projects addressing the legal dimensions of energy transition and environmental protection.
