Jorge Guira

Jorge Guira is an Associate Professor of Law and Finance at the University of Reading. His research focuses on sustainable finance, energy transition, and the regulatory/litigation nexus in financial and environmental matters. He holds a PhD in International Banking and Finance from Queen Mary University of London, alongside multiple advanced degrees including a JD in International Commercial Law. His career includes 30+ years as a practicing lawyer, arbitration counsel, and advisor to institutions like the IMF-World Bank Global Bank Insolvency Project. He currently leads research centers including the Centre for Commercial Law and Financial Regulation and the Program on Energy Law and Policy.

Awards include FRSA, FHEA, and recognition as a Cop26 expert. His teaching includes Energy Law, Project Finance, and International Arbitration across global executive programs. Professional roles include visiting positions at Moscow State Law School, SMU Law, and external examiner roles in energy/international banking LLM programs.
