Leo Wilton is a Professor in the CCPA Human Development department at Binghamton University. His research focuses on health disparities related to HIV/AIDS prevention, Black psychological development, mental health, and community-based participatory research. He holds a BA from Binghamton University, an MA and PhD in Psychology from New York University, and an MPH from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His work emphasizes socio-structural and cultural contexts affecting African and African diaspora communities, with a focus on implementing culturally congruent interventions.
Teaching includes courses on racism psychology, Black child development, family dynamics, HIV/AIDS psychology, and research methods. Wilton has secured multiple NIH grants and leads interdisciplinary teams nationally and internationally. His over 100 publications appear in top-tier journals, addressing topics like HIV stigma, PrEP adherence, and intersectionality among marginalized populations.
