Leo Lovemore (they/them) serves as Librarian for History, Society, and Culture at Brown University Library, supporting teaching, research, and collections in History, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Science, Technology and Society since Fall 2022.
Education Background:
- BA in English and American Studies from Mount Holyoke College
- MA in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University
- PhD in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Rutgers University
Research Expertise:
Their scholarship centers on history of science/technology/medicine, LGBTQ and queer historical narratives, and feminist theoretical frameworks. They emphasize critical engagement with primary sources, special collections, and research methodology development across interdisciplinary domains.
Academic Support:
Leo provides research consultations for students and faculty through Zoom and Rockefeller Library A-16, specializing in resource navigation, source discovery, and John Hay Library special collections. They collaborate with instructors on library instruction sessions and develop subject-specific research guides covering 12+ academic areas including American Soldiers in American Wars, Court Records, and Environmental Histories.
