Sarah Sarzynski is an Associate Professor of History at Mount Holyoke College. Her work focuses on modern Brazilian cultural and political history, with a particular emphasis on the Cold War, gender and sexuality, popular culture, film studies, and regional identities in Brazil. She holds a Ph.D. and has conducted extensive research in Brazil, including via Fulbright-Hays and other grants.
Research Interests: Her research explores topics such as the Amazon’s visual culture, social movements, oral history, and the intersection of race, religion, and poverty in Brazilian regionalism. She has published on Brazilian cinema, including works on Roberto Rossellini’s influence and the Sem-Terra landless movement.
