Leo Lei is an Assistant Professor at the School of Theatre + Dance, University of Florida, specializing in Lighting, Sound, and Projection design. He holds an M.F.A. in Lighting Design from Kent State University and previously served as Associate Professor and Program Director at Western Carolina University. His international design portfolio spans theatre productions, corporate events, and music festivals.
Lei's research explores interdisciplinary theatre technologies with focus on immersive environments, sensory integration, and multimedia storytelling. Recent innovations include developing reactive lighting systems that respond to auditory stimuli, creating layered atmospheric narratives.
His creative works demonstrate consistent exploration of character-driven narratives through technical design, with frequent utilization of projection mapping techniques to enhance psychological depth in productions ranging from classic literature adaptations to experimental immersive experiences.
