Chris Barham is a Senior Lecturer in Lighting, Sound, and Digital Production at Bath Spa University's Bath School of Music and Performing Arts. He teaches on the Theatre, Festival and Event Production course and has over 20 years of industry experience in technical theatre and live events.
- Graduate of Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) with a Technical Theatre degree (2002)
- Hold a Master of Arts (MA) in Professional Practice in Higher Education, PGCHE, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
His research focuses on digital technologies for hybrid (online/in-person) learning in technical theatre education, with an emphasis on immersive technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Worlds. He also works as a freelance Lighting Designer, Production Electrician, and Lighting Programmer, with credits across renowned venues such as the Criterion Theatre (West End), Polka Theatre, and Theatre Royal (Bath).
Chris has previously taught at the University of Kent, Anglia Ruskin University, and the University of the West of England. His expertise spans lighting, sound, and video design for theatre, festivals, and events, along with digital portfolio development and software training (ETC EOS Family, Capture, QLab 4.7/5).
