John Kiselica serves as Senior Lecturer and Assistant Technical Director for Lighting and Sound within the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of South Carolina's McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. Based in Longstreet 207, he teaches lighting and sound design while overseeing technical production elements for the department.
He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design & Technology with emphasis in Lighting & Sound Design from West Virginia University. His professional foundation combines academic training with extensive industry experience.
Kiselica's expertise centers on theatrical production technology, with specialization in lighting/sound systems, digital AV networking (including Dante® Level 3 Certification), and automated rigging solutions. His work bridges academic instruction with professional theater practice through ongoing freelance design and consultation nationwide.
His career includes significant commercial theater projects: serving as head electrician for the national tour of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, stage technician contracts with Royal Caribbean International, and installation of Electronic Theatre Controls' Prodigy Hoists automated rigging systems. This practical experience directly informs his instructional approach in theatrical technology.
