Lene Marite Johannessen is a Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Bergen. Her research focuses on American literature, postcolonial studies, cultural memory, and aesthetic imaginaries. She has authored and edited numerous publications, including books like Site-Seeing Aesthetics: California Sojourns in Five Installations (2020) and Emerging Aesthetic Imaginaries (2018). Her work explores themes such as migration, exile, and the intersection of literature and visual culture.
Key research interests include the analysis of cultural memory in texts like Julie Otsuka’s The Buddha in the Attic, postcolonial literature, and the role of aesthetics in contemporary media.
