Lena Specht

Lena Specht is a Clinical Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen, and serves as Senior Consultant at the Department of Oncology, The Finsen Centre, Rigshospitalet. She has been Professor of Oncology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Copenhagen University since September 2009, following her role as Associate Professor from February 2003 to August 2009. Her extensive career spans over four decades in medical oncology and radiation therapy.

Dr. Specht earned her medical degree (cand. med.) from the University of Copenhagen in January 1977, followed by Doctor of Medical Science (dr. med.) in June 1992 from the same institution. She received European Certification in Medical Oncology in October 1991 and was declared qualified for a Professorship in Clinical Oncology at Copenhagen University in 2006.

Her research focuses on prognostic factors in Hodgkin lymphoma, radiotherapy applications for various lymphomas, long-term treatment complications, and advanced imaging techniques. Her work particularly emphasizes respiratory-adapted radiotherapy for breast cancer, lung cancer, and malignant lymphoma, as well as highly conformal radiotherapy techniques for nasopharyngeal cancer and lymphoma treatment.

Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on improving lymphoma treatment protocols, understanding long-term complications of cancer therapy, and developing more precise risk stratification models. Her work spans both clinical research and systematic reviews that inform evidence-based practice in radiation oncology.
