Lena Falk

Lena Falk, M.A. is a doctoral candidate and lecturer in British and Postcolonial Studies at the English Seminar of Leibniz University Hannover, where she has been a research staff member since April 2025.

Research Interests

Her research integrates queer theory, gender theory, postcolonial theory, posthumanism and embodiment studies, focusing on contemporary speculative fiction that interrogates queer and trans futurity. Her ongoing dissertation project titled “Queer Subjects, Humanity to be Determined: Posthumanism and Queer Embodiment in Contemporary Speculative Fiction” explores how speculative narratives re-imagine human and non-human embodiments beyond binary constructs.

Professional Service & Community Engagement

She is an active member of the Gesellschaft für Anglophone Postkoloniale Studien (GAPS) and the Science Fiction Research Association (SFRA). In October 2022 she co-organised the international early-career conference “Postcolonial Matters of Life and Death” at the University of Bonn, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue among emerging scholars.

Teaching & Advising

At Leibniz University Hannover she teaches courses on British and Postcolonial literatures and cultures. Previously she served as tutor and teaching assistant at the University of Bonn’s Institute for English, American and Celtic Studies (IAAK), demonstrating a sustained commitment to student mentorship.
