Leif S. Hoffmann is a faculty member in the Social Sciences Division at Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC), specializing in Political Science with a focus on European Union studies, comparative politics, and public policy. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from the University of Oregon (2011 and 2007) and a Diplome in International Management from École Supérieure de Commerce et Management (2001). His research explores topics such as EU-U.S. policy comparisons, data collection methodologies, and critical analyses of political exceptionalism. Hoffmann has authored refereed publications in journals like L’Europe en formation and Political Perspectives, as well as non-refereed works including op-eds and teaching materials. His recent work includes an op-ed on vote-by-mail practices (2020) and contributions to textbooks like The Logic of American Politics. He is actively engaged in academic discourse, with interviews featured in Korean media (2012) and photography projects like Capture Lane County (2008).
His teaching and research interests bridge international relations, EU policy frameworks, and methodological rigor in political science. Hoffmann’s publications reflect a commitment to both theoretical analysis and practical applications in public policy. Office hours are held Monday and Wednesday 10:30 AM–noon, with additional by-appointment slots.
