Legacy Russell is a New York City-based curator, writer, and artist who served as Visiting Critic at the University of Pennsylvania's Stuart Weitzman School of Design in 2020. She currently holds the position of Associate Curator of Exhibitions at The Studio Museum in Harlem.
Her academic background includes a dual-major B.A. with Honors from Macalester College (Art History & Studio Art and English & Creative Writing, focusing on Gender Studies) and an MRes with Distinction in Art History from Goldsmiths, University of London (focusing on Visual Culture).
Russell's research critically examines digital identity through frameworks of gender, performance, and internet ritual. Her work interrogates digital selfhood and online communities, culminating in the forthcoming book Glitch Feminism: A Manifesto (Verso Books, Fall 2020), which establishes her as a leading voice in digital feminist theory.

- 2020 Rauschenberg Residency Fellowship
As a curator, Russell has organized major exhibitions including Projects 110: Michael Armitage at MoMA (2019), Dozie Kanu: Function (2019), and the critically acclaimed Wandering/WILDING: Blackness on the Internet (2016). She is currently co-organizing Projects: Garrett Bradley at MoMA, featuring the multichannel video installation America (2019).
