Leena Forma is a Research Professor at the Department of Health and Social Management, University of Eastern Finland. She holds a docent title in health economics, specializing in aging-related economics. Her research focuses on healthcare costs, social services for older adults, retirement dynamics, and nutrition interventions. She coordinates a new bachelor’s program in economics (launching 2025) and supervises doctoral and master’s theses. Affiliated with the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE AgeCare), she leads projects like 'Work, rehabilitation and retirement pathways of older workers' (2025–2027) and 'SUST-360: Sustainable Diets for a Healthier Society' (2024–2028). Her work bridges policy, economics, and healthcare, emphasizing equity in aging populations.
Research Interests: Health economics of aging, long-term care financing, retirement policies, nutrition economics, and social exclusion in healthcare access. She employs mixed-methods approaches, including register data and qualitative studies.
