Elisa Tiilikainen is an Assistant Professor in Social Work at the University of Eastern Finland's Department of Social Sciences. She holds a Doctorate in Political Science and is a Docent in Social Work. Her research focuses on aging populations, social exclusion, and elderly care services, with particular attention to social gerontology and the intersection of technology and healthcare in later life. Tiilikainen leads major projects funded by the Academy of Finland (SOLDEX) and Kone Foundation (DRIVEX), examining marginalization in home care and the impact of license loss on elderly men. She also coordinates Finland's sub-study in the Nordic HAIDI project on digital health service use among seniors. Her work bridges academic research with practical policy advocacy, emphasizing ethical dilemmas in care management and participatory intervention design.
