Dr. Leeban Yusuf is a Research Fellow at the School of Biology, University of St Andrews. His research focuses on evolutionary genomics, speciation mechanisms, and population-level genetic processes. He holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews (2023), supervised by Prof. Ritchie.
Key research interests include genomic signatures of adaptation, divergence with gene flow, and the evolutionary origins of viviparity. His work combines population genomics, transcriptomics, and comparative methods to address questions in evolutionary biology.
Dr. Yusuf has contributed to major projects like the Drosophila Evolution over Space and Time (DEST) resource and has developed computational pipelines for genomic analysis (e.g., GitHub repositories for viviparity studies). He collaborates widely, including with institutions in Mexico, Estonia, and Australia.
