Dr. Katya Mack is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Kansas. Her research focuses on evolutionary genetics, genomics, and adaptation, particularly in house mice and rodents. She employs population genetic, systems biology, and statistical genomics approaches to study gene regulatory evolution, speciation, and environmental adaptation.
Education: B.S. in Anthropology from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley.
Research Interests: Dr. Mack investigates how gene regulation drives adaptation and speciation. Her work spans diverse systems, including sticklebacks and cavefish, with a focus on cis-regulatory changes, climatic adaptation, and tissue regeneration mechanisms. She integrates transcriptomic and genomic data to understand evolutionary processes and environmental interactions.
