Matt Streisfeld is an Associate Professor and Department Head in the Department of Biology at the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences. He is also the director of the Institute of Ecology and Evolution. His research focuses on ecological and evolutionary genetics in natural plant populations, particularly adaptive divergence and speciation mechanisms.
- Research Areas: Ecology and Evolution, Genetics
- Key Questions: How natural selection maintains trait differences under gene flow, genetic basis of adaptive divergence, historical events shaping adaptive alleles, and predictability of adaptive evolution.
- Contact: Email mstreis@uoregon.edu, Office: 267A Onyx Bridge, University of Oregon
His lab utilizes molecular genetics and genomics to study transcriptional regulation and adaptive traits in plants. The lab's work includes the development of the Mimulus aurantiacus v1 genome assembly, available at mimubase.org.
