Dr Maddie James is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of the Environment, The University of Queensland. Her research focuses on evolutionary genetics, particularly the genetic basis of adaptation, parallel evolution, and speciation. She explores topics such as genomic consequences of selection, genetic architecture of adaptive traits, and the interplay between phenotypic and genotypic divergence. Her work spans plant systems and mosquitoes, addressing questions related to ecological speciation, hybrid sterility, and virome diversity.
James holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from The University of Queensland (2021). Her doctoral thesis, *The Nature of Parallel Evolution*, investigated replicated evolutionary patterns in natural populations. She collaborates widely, with key projects including studies on Australian mango genetic diversity and adaptive divergence in wildflowers.
Her research outputs emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, combining genomic data with ecological observations to dissect mechanisms underlying evolutionary processes.
