Lee Ward is a Professor of Political Science at Baylor University, where he has taught since 2017. Previously, he held roles including Alpha Sigma Nu Distinguished Professor at the University of Regina and Visiting Assistant Professor at Kenyon College. He earned a BA from the University of Toronto, an MA from Brock University, and a PhD from Fordham University. His research focuses on political theory, constitutional history, and the works of figures like Locke, Rousseau, and Montesquieu.
Ward’s publications include influential books such as The Politics of Liberty in England and Revolutionary America (2004) and John Locke and Modern Life (2010). His articles span journals like the American Political Science Review and Political Theology, addressing themes of political philosophy, democracy, and liberal thought. He co-edited volumes on federalism and natural rights, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach.
At Baylor, he teaches courses on American constitutional development, political philosophy, and Western political thought. His work bridges classical and contemporary political ideas, emphasizing modern liberal political economy and the intersection of theology and politics.
