Lee M. Jefferson is the Nelson D. and Mary McDowell Rodes Professor of Religion at Centre College. He holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Vanderbilt University and has taught at Memphis Theological Seminary and Vanderbilt University prior to joining Centre in 2008. His academic work bridges the development of Christian traditions and the visual culture of Late Antiquity.

Jefferson's research focuses on early Christian art and theology, with a particular emphasis on Late Antiquity. He has contributed to the Encyclopedia of the Bible and Its Reception and the Brill Encyclopedia of Early Christianity.
