Lee Curran serves as a Research Fellow in the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London. A distinguished lighting designer, he has collaborated with leading arts organizations including the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Opera House, and Rambert Dance Company across theatre, dance, and opera productions.
His research centers on innovative lighting techniques for live performance, investigating how light shapes audience perception and emotional engagement in diverse theatrical contexts from classical drama to contemporary dance. This work bridges technical artistry with narrative storytelling.
Curran's exceptional contributions have been recognized through four Olivier Award nominations for Best Lighting Design (2023, 2019, 2017, 2013), three Knight of Illumination Award nominations, and a 2024 Profile Award nomination. He is represented professionally by CVH Management.
