Lee Chia-Wen

Prof. Lee Chia-Wen is a Professor at the Department of Law, National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan. She holds a SJD (Doctor of Juridical Science) from the Maurer School of Law, Indiana University-Bloomington (2003). Her expertise spans criminal procedure, criminology, and law and society. She has been actively involved in judicial reform, human rights advocacy, and rape law reform, serving as a board member of the Taiwan Association of Human Rights and the Awaking Foundation.

Her research focuses on criminal justice systems, death penalty policies, and legal responses to sex crimes. She has authored two books: Punishment in the Neo-Liberal Order and Justice on a Tightrope: Essays on Criminal Justice, alongside numerous essays in law reviews.

During October-November 2017, she was a visiting scholar at the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan. Her work bridges academic legal scholarship with societal impact through policy engagement and human rights activism.
