Leda Raptis

Leda H. Raptis is Professor of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at Queen's University with cross-appointments to the Translational Institute of Medicine and Queen's Cancer Research Institute. Her research focuses on cellular signaling pathways in cancer, particularly Stat3 activation mechanisms and cell adhesion molecules. She developed the innovative electroporation in situ technique for precise protein interaction studies.

Research interests include:

• Cadherin-mediated Stat3 activation in tumorigenesis
• Regulation of cell differentiation by E-cadherin/Rac axis
• Gap junctional communication in cancer cells
• Caveolin-1 interactions with signaling pathways
• Novel oncogene functions in lung cancer

Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on STAT3 pathway regulation across multiple cancer types, with recent work investigating therapeutic targeting of this pathway. She has trained numerous graduate students including recipients of prestigious awards.
