Dietmar Vestweber

Dietmar Vestweber is Professor of Vascular Cell Biology and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, where he investigates endothelial cell biology and leukocyte trafficking mechanisms. His research focuses on vascular integrity, junction formation, and inflammatory processes.

Using advanced imaging and molecular techniques, his lab studies VE-cadherin dynamics, leukocyte-endothelial interactions, and mechanosensitive pathways regulating vascular permeability. Landmark work identified molecular mechanisms governing leukocyte extravasation during inflammation.
