Leanne Godinho is a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Neuronal Cell Biology within the TUM Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on neurodevelopment and cell fate specification in the vertebrate retina, utilizing zebrafish models for in vivo imaging of nervous system assembly.
- Research Group Leader
- GSN associate faculty
- Email: leanne.godinho@tum.de
- Keywords: retina, development, neurogenesis, remodeling
Her work explores the molecular mechanisms of retinal interneuron generation, including horizontal cells, bipolar cells, and amacrine cells, with emphasis on Notch signaling and mitotic division dynamics. Publications highlight cell fate plasticity and microtubule transport in neurodegenerative contexts.
Key findings include asynchronous neurogenesis in zebrafish retinas and the role of centrosome dynamics in neuronal development. Collaborations with the Misgeld Lab and Simons Lab demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches to neuroinflammation and mitochondrial redox signaling.
