Leah Stoddard is an Instructor of Art History at James Madison University's School of Art, Design, and Art History. With over 35 years of experience as an art professional, she has curated over 100 exhibitions, including 12 major projects at the Taubman Museum of Art (2011–2014). She previously served as Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Adjunct Curator of Contemporary Art at the Taubman Museum, Director of Second Street Gallery (Charlottesville, 2000–2008), and Development Director of the McGuffey Art Center (2017–2018). Currently, she works as an independent curator and artist advisor while teaching courses in Museum Studies and Renaissance to Modern Art.
Education: M.A. in Art History/Criticism from Stony Brook University (SUNY) and B.A. in Art History from Carleton College.
Her professional focus spans museum curation, contemporary art advocacy, and art historical scholarship, particularly in Renaissance through Modern periods. She actively contributes to the arts community through independent consulting and institutional roles.
