معرفی
Leah Puklin, PhD, MPH, is a Research Fellow in the Department of Chronic Disease Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health (YSPH). Her work focuses on integrating lifestyle interventions (nutrition/exercise) into oncology care through implementation science. She uses electronic medical records to analyze cancer survivor care patterns at Smilow Cancer Hospital and has conducted multiple trials evaluating behavioral interventions' impact on treatment adherence and biomarkers.
Education:
- PhD in Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Yale School of Public Health (2024)
- MPH in Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Yale School of Public Health (2019)
- BA in Environmental Studies and Mathematics, Connecticut College (2015)
Research Interests:
Dr. Puklin specializes in applying implementation science methodologies to optimize supportive care for cancer patients. Her studies explore barriers to lifestyle counseling during chemotherapy, leveraging mixed-methods approaches to improve patient outcomes. Key areas include:
- Integration of nutrition/exercise into routine oncology care
- Electronic health record analysis for survivorship care
- Evaluation of behavioral interventions' impact on biomarkers and quality of life
Her work bridges clinical oncology and public health, emphasizing real-world implementation challenges.
Collaborations:
Regularly collaborates with researchers like Melinda Irwin, Brenda Cartmel, and Tara Sanft on large-scale studies such as the Exercise and Nutrition to Improve Cancer Treatment-Related Outcomes (ENICTO) initiative.
Future Work:
Continuing research on weight trajectory impacts in cancer survivors and expanding implementation strategies for evidence-based interventions in oncology settings.
