Leah A. Hall serves as Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Executive Director of Assessment at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy. Her dual roles integrate academic leadership with clinical program oversight in pharmacy education.
Educational background includes:
- Doctor of Pharmacy, West Virginia University School of Pharmacy (2007-2011)
- ASHP Accredited Geriatric Pharmacy Residency, Charleston Area Medical Center (2012-2013)
- ASHP Accredited Residency in Pharmacy Practice, Charleston Area Medical Center (2011-2012)
- Pain and Palliative Care Traineeship Level 3, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (2014)
Her research examines geriatric medication safety through clinical studies on hospitalization risk assessment tools and specialized dosing protocols for obese critical care patients. Innovations in pain management education form another key focus, demonstrated through her palliative care elective course and presentations at regional medical conferences. Current projects address rural healthcare workforce development through HEPC-funded initiatives.
Recent scholarly output centers on translational geriatric pharmacotherapy, with conference presentations addressing medication assessment tools, anticoagulation dosing challenges, and evidence-based supplement guidance for elderly populations. These works bridge clinical practice gaps in aging-related pharmaceutical care.
Dr. Hall maintains active professional engagement through faculty advising for the UC SOP Student Chapter of Christian Pharmacist’s Fellowship International and service on institutional assessment committees. Her HEPC grant work focuses on expanding rural healthcare professional pipelines in West Virginia.
Clinical expertise is evidenced through presentations at venues including the West Virginia Geriatrics Society, Eastern States Residency Conference, and University of Charleston Physician Assistant Program, covering ethical considerations, Parkinson’s pharmacotherapy, and chronic pain management frameworks.
