Lea Sitkin is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Course Leader for the Criminology program at the University of Westminster. She holds a DPhil in Criminology from the University of Oxford (2014) and has taught at institutions such as Sussex University and the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on immigration control, labour market exploitation, political economy, and state crime. She is a member of the European Society of Criminology’s Organised Crime working group and the British Society of Criminology’s Green Criminology Research Network.
Her monograph Rethinking the Political Economy of Immigration Control: A Comparative Analysis (2019) examines the relationship between immigration policies and labour exploitation. Current research explores how technological advancements reshape immigration politics.
As a PhD supervisor, Sitkin advises students on topics like gentrification and state-led policies. She contributes to the Centre for Social Justice Research, addressing issues such as social policy and regeneration. Her work bridges criminological theory with practical policy analysis, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to migration and socio-economic justice.
