Lea Dousset

Dr. Lea Dousset is a clinician-scientist specializing in oncodermatology, with a focus on cancer metabolism, tumor immunology, and drug resistance mechanisms. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Frazer Institute within The University of Queensland's Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences, having joined in January 2023 under Prof. Kiarash Khosrotehrani. Her work bridges clinical dermatology and cancer research, particularly for high-risk populations such as solid organ transplant recipients.

Dr. Dousset's research explores metabolism-driven carcinogenesis and immunotherapeutic strategies for aggressive skin cancers. She leads translational studies such as Siroskin (topical mTOR inhibitors) and CetPro (Cetuximab-Prochlorperazine combination) for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC), with a focus on biomarker discovery and targeted therapies. Her recent publications highlight metabolic profiling, immune signatures in cSCC, and UVB-induced DNA damage as key areas.

She coordinates clinical trials and has 40 Scopus-indexed publications (January 2025) with an h-index of 14 and 906 citations, including high-impact journals like British Journal of Dermatology and Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology. Her projects include the MITOSKIN biobank and the SkinMicroTox study on skin microbiome and immune checkpoint inhibitor toxicity.
